Gifting All Year Round: Download the 2020 Global Holidays Calendar

December 30, 2019

It’s the final stretch of the holiday shopping season and for many online brands and retailers it’s been a strong season. In the U.S., this season has already seen impressive results for e-commerce: online sales on Thanksgiving Day hit a record high of $4.2 billion, or 14.5% increase over 2018, Black Friday also saw a new record for e-commerce sales at $7.4 billion (a 16% increase over 2018), and Cyber Monday came in at $9.4 billion, an increase of 19.7% over 2018 and also the biggest shopping day ever in the U.S.

For many years these critical months leading up to the end of the year have driven major revenue for online brands and these merchants have become particularly good at capitalizing on these end-of-year gifting moments. But what many brands often overlook is that there are dozens of other festivals and celebrations taking place throughout the year and similar to the end of year holidays, gifting around these celebrations can drive sales and grow business in different global regions.

As e-commerce brands plan for 2020, it’s critical to stay on top of the holidays in key global markets. Creating and executing marketing campaigns and promotions takes time and planning, so brands need to keep track of these gift giving moments.

To help stay organized, Flow has created a free 2020 Global Holidays Calendar, highlighting many of the gifting holidays around the world throughout the year. Some holidays might be the same in several countries but are celebrated on different dates (such as Mother’s Day and Children’s Day), while other holidays may only be celebrated in specific countries (like Holi or Sinterklaas). Either way, be sure to print out our helpful calendar and keep it on your desk for easy reference going into 2020.
